Hi all.
After seeing the Killer Penny (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1597&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) finally come into being, I realized that the original saber that inspired it didn't have it's own thread here, so I'm creating one. :)

This is an intentionally non-functional saber. By that I mean it was built to resemble an ancient artifact that no longer worked. To that end, it's not just a solid stunt saber (though I have a version of that too). It has randomly flickering lights you can see inside through a grill, a flickering LED on the side of the activation box and a pair of vibrating motors (one smaller higher pitched one and a larger "clunky" one) that randomly activate at varying intensities to give the impression of a machine that's trying to start, but keeps stalling out.

Note the "meltdown" hole in the sides of the grip. This was from damage incurred by a blowtorch a guy used on it while attempting to braze a section together for me. The pictures you see above are AFTER I fixed it. Here's a pic of the damaged grip:

Here's a much more weathered version of it before I installed the electronics and re-did a few pieces on it. Note, there's no grip section on it here:

In my persona story, this saber had a golden blade. When I first discovered the saber, it actually worked, though it had to be cleaned up a bit. It was Force activated however, and since it was from a former Sith Lord, the will required to activate it had to be very dark. So I was initially unable to get it to turn on. It wasn't until I became darker that I was able to activate it.

After some time, I attempted to bypass the dark Force activation and because of my lack of ability, the saber suffered a catastrophic explosion, which injured my right hand severely (I have a major scar on my right hand from an unrelated injury, but it fits this story well).

Anyway, I wanted this saber to have its own thread, so feel free to post comments here.

That's a good story. I'm guessing you have your own star wars style story you made for yourself. It never occured to me to do that. Although I do have a star wars legend I could intigrate myself into. Still good thread.

Yeah, I have a rather lengthy persona that I'm still writing. It's a life story, I'm only up to where I'm 12 or so and I've already covered 30 something pages. It'll be a darn NOVEL by the time I'm done probably. :P

You can also read a bit about the Malius saber here, though the majority of this pertains to the Killer Penny (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1597) saber:
