View Full Version : just an idea

i was rummaging through my garage the other day and i found something that looked like a pre-made hilt. it's a 'Pop-up Basin Drain'. not sure where you can find them, but i'm guessing a hardware store. it has a hole for a button, and an issue might be attaching a blade or blade holder. this one is 1.25", but i'm sure there are other sizes. you'd probably also want to sand off the print on the side. again, just an idea for some of the more crafty builders.

I could see how that would pass for a hilt. If you wanted to you could drill a hole near the top of the saber for a set screw to hold the blade and use that to hold your blade. If you did that you may not even need a blade holder. If you decide not to go that route and need a piece for something tim may have it here or could make it for you. If he doesn't have it or can't make it he should be able to direct you to someone who does.

YEah I seen a few folks use thoes.

Apparently they work great for the plasmasabers that some other countrys still use.

Don't forget a saber part is no good to you unless it's in a saber. :)

I used one of these as the basis for my "Corran Horn".
A bunch of O rings, a good ol' sink knob, and away we go.

The thumb wheel was attached to a slide switch that was the "safety".
If it wasn't pushed forward, the main button would not function.
Ugly as it was, it was my favorite.

So, it lit up, functioned, and held a blade in it?

If so... what were the components?

Yes I'd like to know too if you don't care to tell.

lit up, yes. held a blade, no. hadn't gotten that far with it yet.

It ran 2 AAA's, and a blue 5mm "extra brite" LED. You'll have to forgive me, I don't recall the exact one. Made one heck of a flashlight. LOL

I found this site and was going to upgrade it to parts from here, figure out how to have it hold a blade when it got stolen.

I plan on building a clone of it, eventually.

Hate that it got stolen but still it looks good. Hope you get to make a clone of it. In the immortal words of some crazy guy "the first clone is always the best clone." Don't know who said it but sounds funny anyway.
