Welcome!
I think what you are describing is...
- Sink Tube
-MHS Emitter (with heat sink) and pommel section
-Switch and battery holder
-Resistor
-LED

I think that's about as basic as it gets.

Well, even with the most basic it can add up if you don't have any tools.

You'd need the LED electronics kit...
1.5" sinktube
pick an MHS emitter
1.5" sinktube adapter
1.5" cap

OR

1.25" sinktube blade holder
1.25" sinktube
1.25" cap

1.5" has the advantage of later MHS add ons and LED changing already built in, but 1.25 is probably cheaper.

The tools are what's going to add. Wire, solder and a soldering iron. I highly recommend heatshrink. Then a tap and die set with screws is also a must...

If you have a drill and a soldering iron, you could do the 1-1/4" sink tube saber for about 45-50 for just the hilt.

sink tube $5
1-1/4" blade holder $20
switch $3
resistor $1-2
wire $1
battery cage $3
end cap $1
thumbscrew $3 if you want to use one instead of the set screw included with the holder
LED $6-15 depending on what you want

To see how it all goes together see a tutorial here:http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2741

If you'd like to see how these types of sabers can be done, look here:

I used the most basic parts from the store to do both sabers, but offhand, I'm not sure what the totals are for each saber. I also made the blades for them myself.

Add it up and find out. :)

For blade and hilt... $30???

Not going to happen. At least with the stuff here. The blade alone is $15 in parts.

If that's your budget you could probably do a PVC hilt and use a Lux I. To use the parts here at TCSS $60 is about the minimum (without shipping).

so you guys dont think i would be able to make a working LED saber for under 60 ??
like what i want to know what is the maximum amount i need to spen here for an LED saber

Let me see I'll approximate to whole dollars... you can look it up in the store yourself.

$20 for III electronics kit
$20 1.25" blade holder
$5 for 1.25" sinktube
$21 blade stuff
$5 for cap and blade screw of choice

That's about $71.

The thumbscrew keeps the blade from flying out.

1) Basic hilt electronics kit w/lux III= $18.19
2) Style 1 led blade holder w/heatsink= $18.00
3) MHS sinktube adaptor (required for proper seating of the heatsink)= $8.50
4) 1.5" chrome sink pipe+= $4.25
5) Chrome 1-3/8sinkpipe endcap= $0.95
6) 1" thickwalled polycarbonate blade, 40" long= $13.99
7) 1" thickwalled polycarbonate blade tip= $3.25
8) 3/4" aluminum adhesive disc= $0.25
9) Corbin blade film (single wrap)= $4.00
10) 8-32 thumbscrew= $2.50

TOTAL=$73.88 (NOT including shipping)

You may be able to get the sink tube and endcap at a local hardware store, but it's much easier to have all the parts show up in one box. You can't really get it any cheaper than that.

Fgure 8$ for shipping then a glue for the tip I suggest stix on contact in a purple package and only use a little of it. with the reflective disk I suggest a tiny hole in the middel of it to let the tip light up a bit.

corbins film will be a pain to install expecally if its a single wrap. I suggest a 5/8" dowel to help roll it up. A double wrap is a bit easyer to roll up but still a pain.

Your gonna need some drill bits to attack the adapter to the sinktube and switch hole.

All said and done I would get a full mhs style 1 hilt and bladeholder then a pommel and a compleat blade.

Spend a bit extra to make it easyer for a first timer. and you will have to know how to solder. Oh and I suggest shrink wrap for all the solder joints.

$18.19 - 3W led kit.
$18.00 - bladeholder style 1 or 2
$23.00 - hilt style 1
$7.99 - Pommel style 3 or 5
$29.99 - Compleat tcss style blade.

$97.17 and all you have to do is solder the wires togeather and screw it togeather and your done.

Good luck in your decissions
