I was gonna order a bunch of little pieces not even adding up to a pound and without even processing the order it said almost 11$ for shipping. I used to work shipping and the little items i had dont get over 5lbs where the UPS mark up is at. Anything from 1-4 lbs is the same amount no matter where it goes. Why in the world is it 11$ to ship some screws?

Not that it makes a difference but if you look here

http://www.ups.com/media/en/od_grdc.pdf

you will see that your statement of everything under 4lbs costing the same to ship is not true. This might be different for a big company though.

I also have to mark up the shipping to cover packaging costs and paypal fees. I could stop doing this but it would just make the store prices higher. I do not offer USPS shipping to everyone because tracking and insurance does not come free. Look at the thread that Cain posted though and it will explain how to get it shipped for less.

Yea Tim away away from USPS especially their insurance is a rip. I got some stuff in that came in broken and after their "investigation" I got nothing more than some broken stuff!
This has happened twice to me so i use UPS and FED Ex. also DHL is good and cheap.

Hi dudes,

I'm new. I haven't checked all threads and forums, but I have had a lot of experience with UPS and they suck. I have done a metric butt ton of shipping with UPS and FEDEX, and even if it's higher, FEDEX is worth it. UPS is so stupid, they'd stack a barbell on top of a Kleenex box...and then still try to get you to sign for the damaged package. And don't you dare write FRAGILE on a UPS package! I think the guys who load the trucks see those words and take a short time out for a game of flag football when you write "fragile" on the package. I've received soaking wet packages, other people's packages, packages with gaping holes, and some held together only by the tape. I've done shipping and receiving for two different business - not just some orders from ebay. So I have lots of experience with shipping. I don't know if Stryder does the Fedex thing, but it's worth it. And I would never use the post office. I don't even think they have a tracking system. Rock on dudes!

I have had many jobs and I have had the unfortunate but brief experience of being a UPS package handler. Basically come in at 3 a.m. and unload the trucks coming from the airport as fast as possible. When we opened a trailer up it is packed floor to ceiling with packages stacked up like bricks ten feet high. Package handlers don't get ladders or footstools to get to the top packages for unloading. They step and climb on other boxes to get the extra height.

I watched countless times as people (including supervisors) pull packages from the bottom of a wall of boxes to purposely cause the wall to collapse, sending packages crashing to the trailer floor to be picked up and thrown onto a conveyor belt. I had the displeasure of having boxes of fragile electronic equipment fall on me as they came crashing down. I know first hand how UPS treats their packages.
I quit after two weeks.

and in my case, each time i had tim use ups, it took over 2 weeks to get something i ordered. so im not a huge fan of ups. when i had him use usps, i got it in 3 to 5 days, BUT, i have also recieved my package in a bent the heck outta shape, smashed, crushed condition too. so i dunno which is worse, ups, or usps. lol maybe the fedex thing is really worth considering. i have had things delivered by fedex before and it was fairly fast and i never got a crushed or screwed up package from them.

something to consider, just a thought for the future.

i have worked for Fedex and he is right abouthow stuff is packed and unloaded. But i have done shipping for multimillion dollar co. and its all in how its packaged. If its not packaged right, it'll break. Yes they trow packages, yes they step on them, yes the let them topple to the floor. But if its is protected and package right you have nothing to worry about. If you still have worries, then use USPS. They are the best next to DHL.

What is the average time for a package ordered from here, to make it to the persons house? And I mean just shipping time, not time waiting for parts to be ready to ship. The time it takes from pick up from the carrier to drop off at the home.

for me, if i had Tim send it usps i get it in 3 to 5 days, for ups it has taken 2 weeks each time. but then we get back to the question of package damage. usps dont seem to give a crap in how they handle it, but its faster, ups seems to be better in keeping the damage down, but for me, its sloooooow to get here.

smaller items like a led holder and led lens/holder tim packs very well in a small box and i have him ship it usps and those arrive unscathed and undamaged. but larger stuff like blades ie.. i would probably lean towards ups delivery. longer time, but not damaged as much or any at all.
