do you guys know if ultras mr mace conversion will work with tcss blades?
I was very dissapointed with ultra blade for dueling, it looks amazing with 3w red , but the 1/16 walls scare me...

I would rather just buy everything from tcss but no mr mace conversion in stock...and i need this saber done within the month

cheers,

"Ultra's Mace Kits" and the TCSS ones are one and the same. So obviously TCSS blades will fit.

sweeeet thanx man, much apprec..
hopefully ultras are in stock
now his "Silver" what colour led is that?
LXHL-LW3C 60 @ 700mA 80 @ 1A 5500K ?

is that enough to use with a purple lee filter? or do i really need to go with a k2 and relay?

I've done a mace MR - K2 conversion...

http://www.freewebs.com/genesis_sabers/Mace%20conversion%202.JPG

It's not the best one for dueling because of the size of the hilt, and the blade inserts into the hilt only about 1 1/4". You'll be fine with a 1/16 wall poly-C blade in this one.
Still, it's worth converting just for the colour enhancement alone (stock MR purple is so lame).

I would skip the relay unless you've been doing this awhile... just go with a White K2 and follow Tim's tutorial - you'll be really happy with the result.

Then get a god purple filter, I personaly like Lee Filters # 328 Magenta.

his silver is just a white led, his blade film makes it look silver. IMO

ahh right on, well doing a relay is not an issue, its just a couple more solders..following a few tutorials ive found...but would a k2 be less bright than a lux3 naturally powered by the mr board?

if a k2 and a 3 watter are driven at the same power, the k2 will still be brighter. don't ask me why lol

with the relay, the k2 will be much brighter than a 3 watter, effectively blowing it out of the park

I just want to get my facts straight Can you direct drive a K2 off the MR mace board?

yes.

with or without the relay and therefore more wiring is up to you.

a K2 even at the same power as a 3 watter will still be brighter, so the relay isn't totally necessary

Hey Madcow,
I read that you use Lee Filters #328 Magenta on your saber. I have the Lee Filter Swatch Book and #328 is Follis Pink while #113 is Magenta. Is it the Follis Pink you are using? I have tried them both and #113 Magenta seems a little dark and more of a pink to me but I am also using a 3 watt Lux as opposed to your K2. I don't know if the brighter K2 would make #113 Magenta look like yours or not. I am gathering information on upgrading mine to a K2 as well, unless I read something on a brighter LED. I just need to find a place that sells the 5 watt relay. All of the links I saw on here pointing to them are sold out.

I'm sure Magenta is 328 in my swatch book...

I'll have to check that out....

I'm sure the number was right. And I know it was called magenta.
It is a little more pink than other purple's, but it seemed so much more alive.
Different white LEDs will have different subtle colour changes too, do what looks best to you.
