About 1 out of 10 prospective fencing student's parents ask me...

. . . . . . . *drumroll please*
.
.
.

"So... are the... foils or... um, swords sharp then?"
.
.
.
.
:!: :!:

One word. IDIOTS!!!!

Yes, they are sharp. I have at least 3 injuries a day, and fatally wound 10-year olds about twice a month. My insurance company is beside itself, and it's a majestic wonder and crying shame that I have not yet been... LOCKED UP IN PRISON FOR KILLING CHILDREN WITH SHARP SWORDS!!!!

 Sharp. Swords. Kids. . . . . . Idiots.

i am thought that you would use rebated steel for your performances Nova as sharps would be pretty chipped up at the end of a performance.

From left tor right, home made buster sword, sharp war sword, Paul Chen Zatoichi (very sharp, I use it for cutting tatami mats), my own rebated edge viking sword, Paul Chen Practical Hand and a Half, Rapier with a dueling blade, and last an aluminum performance sword.

this pic shows the difference in a razor sharp balde and a rebated steel blade

and last this is what happens when you use sharps to fight with (this is a sword i made when i was in my teens and very dumb).
