if only i had more room in my saber. i would put in a PLI and a potentiometer for the speaker. that way i could adjust the sound. alas, the crystal chamber robbed me of all room to speak of

get another extention with some kinda custome work to it. then you got all the space you will ever need.

or get rid of the crystal chamber.

I want some of those J-plugs....too bad I don't have room for that pLI, either. You gotta keep the crystal chamber, it's too cool, Maul.

BUT, you need to keep in mind how long this already is. it is a good 4 inches longer than my ani, about the same for the vader as well

it is 3/4 as long as my maul staff.

another extension ain't happening.

jay gon, i for sure am keeping the chamber. that was one of the 2 things i HAD to have when i designed this. the other was claws

been waiting for that!!!!!!!

now
HOW do I hook it up............very fast learner......very inexperienced too......

Lord Maul

i believe that you hook it up after the switch in the circuit.
your circuit in its' most basic form would be this

battery pack-------switch-----PLI-----resistor------led\
............\-----------------------------------------------------/

the dash lines represent wires as do the slashes. red = positive, black = negative

so the plug would need to be cut off and the wires soldered to the appropriate places in the circuit?

Lord Maul

i'm pretty sure. corbin could probably confirm this

I'd just get another Y-Splitter and plug it in... lol

I think it's supposed to be wired in Parallel with and before the Sound Board (if so equipped).

IF I understand correctly ..............body edited for stupidity's sake (Mine  )

No! Put it AFTER the switch, or it will always be on. Did you look at LM's simple diagram?!

no I didn't really. Thanks. it does make sense AFTER the switch, probably what I meant to say...its been one of those days.
weeks actually.........

simple assumption problem........looked like what I had seen before.
then I forgot the whole issue of why a switch was there......just had a "blonde" moment...forgive me

So one wire on a switch wire and the other on the pos side of the batery pack?

Hi guys! Sorry to bump an old thread, but I was wondering if I could get a definitive answer about the best way to wire Corbin's PLI to a saber using a sound card (MR sound card or Ultra). I purchased one and want to get more for my other sabers but I want to make sure I wire this thing correctly. I assume you already use the wires provided, should I cut off the connector? Anyway, any help would be great! Thanks guys!

Unless you are using the J-plugs just cut it off.

PLI's are dead simple. Just put each of the wires to the respective battery leads... then interrupt the loop with a momentary switch (or latching if you prefer).

X... is there any reason why the PLI couldn't be "active" the entire time the saber was on? Does it draw a lot of juice?

Just curious.... hope I'm not totally de-railing this... it feels relevant... :)

Nah, I can't image it pulling it more than 20mA or so. It's the constantly on thing that would suck. I simple tap to check the the power is a nice effect with the scroll though.
