I have those parks el paper blades. how hard would it be to switch the paper out with el wire? and do they make a difuser small enough. I know nothing about el so.

Taking the el paper from parks blades and switching them out for wire?

Would tims diffuser tube work with parks blades?

i dont think parks blades use diffusers

since parks uses the film instead of wire it wouldnt need a diffuser, the point of the diffuser in an EL blade is to hide the wire and make an even glow, a large sheet doesnt have anything to hide and will produce an even glow on its own. also he has close up blade pictures on his site. and you can clearly see the color of the blade even when it isnt ignited. just like EL wire, it retains its color when not lit up. if it had a diffuser it would be opaque or milky white.

Yea I understand all that I just wanted to make sure that switching it out with wire wont mess up the electronics.

ok so the Id of this blade is 12.4 mm or 1/2 inch. how many strands of el wire will fit inside? and being 38 inches long.

try the EL blade making tutorial vortex :wink:
you're not a n00b, i can't believe you're asking this...

Material List - 40" Blade

* 40" Long 3/4"OD 1/2"ID Polycarbonate tube[/li]
* 40" minus length of mono plug Long 7/16"OD 5/16"ID Rigid high density polyethylene tubing - straightened[/li]
* 17' 2.5mm High Bright EL wire[/li]
* 3/4"OD Half round acrylic tip [/li]
* 1/4" Mono plug[/li]
* Allen head set screw[/li]

38 inches would be just a tiny bit less than that

Remember, you need to go by the ID of the diffuser, not the polycarb tube. If you don't use a diffuser, the blade will look like crap, you will see the wires and it won't be evenly lit.

I have converted many of my friend's Parks blades to EL wire in the past, once the EL film in the original blades get damaged.

And yeah, check the Tutorial. :wink:

I didn't realize there was one. :oops: I also asumed any other info was for tims blades exclusivly. but I shall look :D
edit: ok I found out what I needed to know. didn't know el blades where all 3/4 inch. See where my confusion lies? 8)

well, with a one inch el blade, el wire would be covered by itself and therefore not doing much good :wink:
