spent the night on the wood lathe with a piece of west coast yellow cedar, purple hart wood and some scrap aluminum.. 4 beers later i have a new saber .. got a shopping list for electrics and a neo pixel blade 1707217073

Did you epoxy the wood to the aluminum oy is it held together by the aluminum spine?

this took a careful bit of machining. the top piece of aluminum is friction fit with a wee bit of epoxy the rest is a tight slide fit with a epoxy. then back in the lathe to smooth out my chop saw cuts. then i had to take the piece to work and use the big lathe to bore it out .

the spine was an after thought .. because its wood, and i want combat ready and its only 1"1/2 of material with a 1 inch bore for electronics and blade. but i now have 2"1/4 blade purchase. .. the aluminum pieces were partial friction fit with epoxy. we shall see how it works after i bash the crap out of it . lol

Looks very cool for sure =] I'd go with an amber blade to be honest, can just see the saber in that color for some reason :P

well i got three bank color choices for the nvb4 .. so ill load up amber purple and red? no blue.. aaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHH..

ive glued it back togeather and filled in the gaps where the strong back or spine is .. its right back to being super tough .. however i wont be using yellow ceder again its not as strong as i thought. just hard woods, like oak, purple hart, birds eye maple might look interesting.

did some more mods drilled cooling holes for the LED's i fried the first two .. not sure how but it was easily repairable. forgot to show my chassis design. its copper tubing.. The NBV4 is mounted on silicone ive spent more time beating the living crap out this prototype so far so good 172621726417265

Te copper/wood saber actually works for some reason :P Should mostly be green colors if its able to have electronics put in I think anyway =]

still wondering if my face book links work? cause i just tested the durability of neo pixel blades.. its quite interesting.. lost the tip and one LED popped out and the area around it glowed for five minutes.. lol it still works and broke the hilt again...

I would love to get my hands on that pen. lol. I think if someone handed me that pen I might be tempted to walk off with it, sort of like when I walk out of a bank or store. By accident that is.
