Hey guys,

just like the title says, is it possible to use a removable 18650 battery (I have those (https://www.amazon.de/Panasonic-NCR18650B_2PCM-AccuPower-Box-geschützte-Ausführung-grau/dp/B00NNEHL8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521035912&sr=8-1&keywords=18650+panasonic+geschützt)) with the MHS battery/speaker holder this one (https://www.jqsabers.com/product/mhs-batteryspeaker-holder/) AND add an in-hilt recharge port? I found some different opinions, some saying it's okay, some saying it should better be not done...

You can use removable batteries with recharge ports, but you need to be extra careful each time you charge the battery. If the battery has wiggled loose or is otherwise not seated properly (this can easily happen when dueling with your saber), you'll get a poor connection for recharging. This can lead to improper charging, overheating, or worse.

I generally recommend that recharge ports go to permanently wired batteries, and for removable batteries to be charged outside the hilt.

I have a few "trooping" sabers that have both RC Port and removeable batteries. I make sure the contacts are good and tight on the batts. If you think its chincy, throw a removeable wrap of ye old black tape of round the batt to hold er snug in thar. I've never had any issues with those sabers, but I don't duel with them.

Most of my "normal" sabers have hard-wired batts and a rc port.

Thanks for those informations! My problem with hard-wired batteries is, that the shipping for those to austria is reaaally expensive in comparison to the price of a batteryholder.. And since I don't put that much value on a fancy inside of the saber, personally I would tape the battery good to the holder...

Velcro straps would be a better choice for securing the battery instead of tape. Tape tends to get gummy and make a mess when it gets warm.

Do a Google search for "Velcro Cable Ties" and you should see what I'm talking about.
