I never know quite the right location to post some of my questions, so I hope this is a good section.

Has anyone ever tried oil darkening or oil blackening as method of weathering/coloring their saber? I've seen it used on other metals and for replica armor, but can it be done on aluminum?

It's been done before. Eastern57 wrote up a nice tutorial involving olive oil. http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?6292-Weathering-tutorial-(w-olive-oil)

I don't see it used too often anymore. Most people use Aluminum Black nowadays.

I tested it out in scrap steel tubing. A little goes a long way.

Don't cover the entire part in oil, or it will just come out even colored (but darker).

I used Aluminum Black for my Therion's Wrath build.
It worked very well for what I was doing

Thank you for the link, Silver Serpent. I had seen it before, but I had trouble finding it again.

I agree, Therion. The aluminum black worked well on your build. By the way, Wrath is a great looking hilt.
