ok, i finally found the "hero stunt prop" hilt i have been searching for:
http://www.angelfire.com/movies/nobudgetsfx/goldsaber.html
i have only looked at this site but i will eventually have one of these or a similar type. does this look like it would hold an LED and sound unit? even with some modifications? I must have an LED version of this!!
any suggestions are appreciated.
if this builder is on this site please speak up!

Why did you double post this in different forums?

because they concern 2 different topics: the overall hilt design/parts and the LED/sound electronics inside.
one was a new thread and one was a reply.
is that ok?

Hah, just call me a forum Nazi...[:I] I post on places that you will get banned for multiple posts like that. It costs money to host a forum and It costs more with more posts... I'm being too picky.[;)]

You could have asked that there too. As long as it's hollow there should be no troubles. Those directions are really vague. I can't tell if it is hollow or held together by 1 solid peace like most hardware sabers.

i've seen this one before and i have it printed out. yes it uses sink pipe for the main body and you will definately have to machine out the emitter end so a 1 inch led blade will fit. this saber used a simple led lighting on it. you can run the same and also the led blade. you should be able to modify the emitter end with tims led holder and make a few slight changes to that end so it will work.

in short, yes its a doable led project.

Now you've really peaked my curiosity. Do any of you guys have the picture to post? The link seems to be shut down.

It's a badly written page. You need to view it in IE to see the image.

I am using IE, but yesterday the picture would not show up. Anyway, i saw it today. Hmmm... You know those splashy things priests use to throw around holly water? kind of what it reminds me of. And a bit of Sidious because of the emitter flange. Nice combination - sith and priest, huh.
I'd say it has some potential, but as it is, it's not my cup'o'tea either.

i used to have several different links to this hilt with the pic, but they all went down, so i cheated and scanned a print image of it.

it looks like it would have been of Persian design:it is a long silver tube with gold colored rings near each end, it has a flared emitter and a pommel from a bathroom towel hangar endcap with a D ring through it. It looks like a toy recorder i had when i was a kid that i used to think would make a great saber. it is very unique and stands out from 90% of all other hilts i have seen. whereas most other hilts look like high-tech hardware (very cool of course), this one looks like a cultural artifact, like it would have been an heirloom for generations. classy is the word that comes to mind.
if i can find an emitter and pommel that look like this i will be on my way.

The past should be left buried!!!!!!

There are things that should remain that far down. Dark and terrible things.....
