View Full Version : FOC Not Working As Expected

Hi, I've got my NBv3 all wired up with my BBW tri-cree LED and everything works exactly as expected except the FOC. It's supposed to flash white, which it does, but I was under the impression the white combined with the blue but it is replacing it instead.

Did I misunderstand how the FOC effect worked or is there a way to change it to combine with the blue instead?

Thanks!

All three are most likely active during FOC. It's just that the white is much more intense and is washing the blue out. Try adding more resistance to the white led of your goal is to have a bluish white.

Your thought makes sense. I'll have to give it a try.

I wouldn't have thought, though, with as bright as the 2 blues are that they could be washed out so completely like that.

Could I use the fdrive parameter in the config.txt to test this out rather than buying a bunch of higher value resistors until I get one I like? If I under-drive the LED using fdrive, I'll get a similar result, correct?

EDIT:

Nevermind, I just read this in the manual:

Never set the drive under 80% of the maximum value.

80% probably isn't enough of a reduction.

One way to test to see if all three are active is to use a few sheets of paper over the leds. That way you can look at them without blinding yourself. Just be careful!! Start with more sheets than you need and take away until you can just make it out.

I nearly made the rookie mistake checking the LEDs after a transistor blew. As I was a bit to peer down the scrap of blade tube I realized it was already really bright and I was doing something stupid.
