I'm converting a BS Kylo Ren lightsaber. Can someone tell me if this looks like it would be wired correctly or if I even need a PNP? Should the 2 red leds of the Tri Cree be wired series or parallel...and why? Thanks for any input.

I'll be very interested in hearing the answer as well, as I'm looking to do a very similar setup to my Kylo Ren lightsaber.

Going once...going twice?...bump.

I'm not too familiar with that particular board, but the 2nd diagram looks like it would work better. If it were me, I'd probably toss the BuckPuck and just use a resistor in its place.

This is how I ended up wiring it. It works fine, it's very loud and bright. The 5v regulator gets hot but not so hot that it melts the heat shrink I put around it. Battery life isn't the best, I get about 15-20 Minutes of use out of it, but if I turn it on and let it idle, I get 30 minutes. Anything I can do to improve battery life or will I just need to go a different route for a battery choice? Or is that what the PNP will do?

800mAh battery pack, running about 3000mA of LEDs? Yep, that's about 15-20 minutes of runtime.

If you need more runtime, you'll likely need to bump up to 18650 sized cells. You'll need a different method of holding them, since they won't fit in that holder.

Thanks! They are the 900mah, so that would make sense. Back to the drawing board...
