Hello All,

I was going to rewire my FOC3 today after breaking the connection running my recharge port wires under the board-when I noticed the connection still in tact as well as still putting out 5 volts.
So I thought maybe I had an issue with the wire somewhere else- I wired a battery to the ends of the pos and neg leads for said LED and it powered up fine(At LED Star and on board leads). But still no LED
when I power on the board. Once again I use the volt meter and read about 5 v coming from said FOC3 pad/wire and nothing getting to the LED.

I proceeded to check the main LED voltage with the volt meter, when the speaker started to make static sound- no hum ,clash anything. I powered down the saber, installed the kill key. Rebooted saber fine-But meow when
I power up the saber it automatically powers down when I release the power button. It never did this before. Not able to change colors but it will enter sound font menu.

I gotta get some pictures-though I dunno if it will help-

7.4 volt battery pack

2x momentary switch
2x accent led

Any suggestions on LED repair?
Or how to get the board to stop powering down on its own?
Anyone else experience this?

thanks,

What battery are you using? How exactly do you have everything wired/configured? And what specific problem are you having - it sounds like you are saying that the board reboots when you hit FOC??

Try Charging the Battery?

Hi Knight,

I added some more info to the original post,

Essentially- I used a battery pack at the board ned/pos and FOC3 pad to confirm wiring/soldering -that worked to ignite LED3. I checked the sd card and it is set to use FOC3 pad. I used volt meter to confirm power from FOC3 pad. Except still no LED 3 at all.
My board also will not stay ignited. As soon as I loose pressure on the power/momentary switch the board powers down. I changed no wiring or sd card parameters when this started to happen- I was checking the voltage to Main Led from board pos and neg pads when saber started to show signs of auto power down.

I would like assistance in getting my LED3 to power on when the saber is in use.
I would also like any suggestions for the sudden powering off.

thanks,

I am not against trying that-

Just to confirm though- The saber does not just cut out- It will do a full power down as if I just deactivated the saber with the power button-

If it was low/out on power would it just shut off without warning?

**Update: I put the volt meter to the battery pack and it is reading 7+volts. I would imagine this means its not a charge issue(this whole ordeal is making me feel stupid).

What kind of battery pack? (BE SPECIFIC!!!!)

I got a pre-made battery pack from the TCSS store
7.4v Li-ion 1050mAh 14650 Battery Pack- Item #7414650

And you are trying to light up all three LEDs at the same time? At what Amperage?

Shoot sorry knight-

I have had the saber working for the last 3 months or so-
I lost function of the green LED after installing the recharge port-
I have the colors set up on the 3 different channels for the Main(RBlue), FOC(Amber), and FOC2(Green).
I am trying to get my green LED to respond to the board.

As well as figure out why my board keeps entering power down without me hitting the switch-

I would hate to imagine the switch went bad when I had it on the work bench-i didn't do any work near the switch leads on the board.
I did have a weird occurrence checking the voltage on the main LED where the speaker stopped making light saber noises all together
and just made static as if you lost cable to the tv.
When I reset the board I started having the "premature de-activation" of the saber-
As soon as the let go of the power button it engages and powers down the saber.

Well, the first issue I see is that the solder lugs for the recharge port are exposed (no heatshrink), so you might have a short somewhere. I would also check the wiring all the way to the green LED, especially around any resistors. You could possibly have blown the LED (somehow).

I'll heat shrink the recharge port legs-

I am able to test the Green LED with a separate 3 v battery pack. I installed the kill key-I ran the leads from the separate battery pack to the ends of the green LED wires where they connect to the CF and I am able to get the green to lite up.

I also used the volt meter on the FOC pad(same pad/wire end tested with separate pack) where the green is wired to and it does have close to 5 v coming from the pad- and still no green LED.

In my(noob) mind, I would think the above test would tell me that the wiring of the green is ok.

Imma be sure to heatsink in the morning and update-

thanks again

I applied the heat shrink to the recharge port legs-As well as confirmed my green LED still works and the wiring allows the LED to activate-

Unfortunately still no response from the green when the saber is activated and the saber still powers down on its own-
