disney rey lightsaber soundoard

Hello, I tried to remove a soundboard from rey disney lightsaber Toy.
When I installed the transistor TIP42C to one of the negative pole of the strip led the board started to burn.
Has anyone ever tried to modify the bard of this disney toys?

The look of the board reminds me of the 90s era hasbro Luke and Vader boards only with a slider style switch.. Never worked with any of the Disney stuff personally.

I'm pretty sure the slider is for the "on/demo/off" selections. I'm going to attempt transfering one of these to my grab bag saber. I have a vader and a rey so if I blow one up, I'm fairly certain the other one is the same with a different sound font...maybe...I'll let you guys know what I come up with soon.
