Building a saber with a BuckPuck, as I'm using my Halloween costume budget and it's limited. I'd like to have flash on clash, even if it's using an "accent" momentary push button. So my questions: is it possible/wise to try this (I don't want to burn anything out), and should I use the BuckPuck to drive the flash die or connect to the battery through resistors?

Thanks for the help. This seems unconventional and there's not much info on how the BuckPuck works.

Use the buckpuck to power your main LEDs, and a resistor for the clash LED.

You will need a second switch to control the clash effect.

You could use a clash sensor and transistor to activate the clash without using more sophisticated electronics. The effect won't be as sustained or animated, but it will happen.

A clash sensor without other electronics is a poor idea. It doesn't make connection long enough for you to notice the flash. A momentary switch will do the job.
