LED color adjusting help

Hey guys,
I'm kind of new here, but have been lurking for a while. I have plans to make a custom lightsaber, using a r/g/b tri-rebel and three knobs to adjust the blade color. I saw a saber for sale that had color adjuster knobs. Where can I get a circuit board to do this?

The easiest solution is to get 3 potentiometers and attach knobs to them (or use volume control knobs), then wire one to each LED to control the power going to each one.

I'm fairly certain it could also be done with an Arduino or other hobbyist board, but that's going to be a bit more involved.

The problem with the potentiometers is that they will spin and your lights will shift during use, you'll also need to find room for them. The problem with Arduino (or other) is that you will need even more extra real estate, but you can over come the shifting issue by controlling how and when adjustments are registered. This is not really the place to discuss the details of Arduino and code development, though.

Not if he does like many builders do and use the screwdriver adjust pots and have access ports through the hilt. There is a thread on here that details how to hook it up on an NB, but it also works on Stunt and Hasbro. You just have to get the right Pots and Mosfets.

If you just want a handful of blended color presets, the Prizm soundboard will do what you want, as will the PC and CF with Color Extender. If you want to fiddle with knobs and fine tune the colors all the time, then you'll have to take one of the paths described above.

JBKuma, are you saying that potentiometers won't stay where they're set when jostled around? I'll have to research more about LED color mixing; I figured more saber people did this.

People do do color mixing....just most of then let the sound board do it...the best are the ones that have a r.i.c.e port, hence why the good sound boards have many font sets..(most have at least 5). And what jbkuma is talking about is the vibration when sparing causes the knobs to turn unless there is a o-ring between the body of the saber and the outside of the knob to keep it from moving.
