This is my attempt at an Old Republic style hilt. Hopefully I can find someone to machine it (I asked Tim already still waiting on a response). This would have quick change to switch between a white 3w and an amber 3w. One inch thin walled blade and Corbin's film. Powdercoated areas with 3 working LED's and a slider switch. Inspired by seeing Rob-wan Deattrod's costumes in the costumes section. I wanted something that looks more prequel-ish and earlier.

A possible color scheme: (Warning very poor ms paint coloring skills)

I wander how it would look with brass accents. cool design though.

I was thinking about that but brass would be way to expensive to add to the design. I'm not looking for an mhs style where a brass overlay would work I want a high quality solid machined piece.

While price is ultimately going to be an issue, I want as high quality that I can get while ommitting the things that probably wouldn't be on a saber of this era. Mace is really the only jedi to have major bling on his saber and I think that the simpler method is more what I'm going for.

Feel free to take the uncolored image and add a color scheme you like to it. I have a bunch floating in my head but the design is firm.

it would look horrible if i tried anything with paint shop or any other program. this one here is simple enough. if Tim doesn't want to do-clo is now making his own.

that looks like it could make a really cool looking hilt. i agree with the brass accents maybe on the thin part of the neck. do you have preference for what color? that is probably the first step so that you can base all the coloring on the hilt to match the blade

Probly not what you'r going for, but I think it looks cool. Been wanting to do a trooper type saber for a while though...

BTW how much does powder coating cost for something saber sized?

Good ideas so far guys! I'm going for an amber blade and a white blade so the combination of blue and yellow/gold appeals to me. Keep up the good suggestions!

EDIT: I won't advertise who I would powercoat it through since in a way he competes with TCSS. PM me.

Here are a few more color schemes... I'm really a fan of the brass/gold color and I like the blue as well but I'm thinking thats far from the original idea. Less color might work best which is why I like this first one the most. With an amber blade I think it would work well.

i like the top one the best but i like the center one's switch box. if you were to put those two together i think it would look super cool 8)

Thanks to lord Do-Clo this saber is going to become a reality 8)

It will contain when all is said and done, a 3watt amber LED, Erv's buttered toast with luke ROTJ custom sound set, and if I can fit it a li-ion battery pack. Much like firebird's awesome saber this may take me many months to complete but it should be well worth it. It will also be powdercoated like my first design in the post above. The black/yellowish combination though I might take out the black grip and just make the led/switch plate black.

are you putting in ervs board and an mr board, becouse his board has sound to, or do you just mean the speaker? I guess I got lost.

Erv's board and I'm going to load my own luke ROJT sound suite I have on my computer. The fact that his board is customizable makes it worth every penny.

Here is my final color scheme:

I really like it. are you gonna have it silver and brass? or polished and painted gold?

I think a silver and brass would look sweet. Question.

The bit outlined in red Is that gonna be in the final design? I think you should keep it sleek there and maybe have the skinny section just a tad bigger OD. I think it would make it kick butt looking in polisned and brass. :)

Thanks for the comments guys I really appreciate it.

As far as the color goes it depends on what they have when I go to powdercoat it. I'm thinking gold/amber with polished aluminum but the prequest style grey works well I think. We'll just let that play out.

I really want to keep that part you highlighted in the design for now, I can always have it machined off when I go to powdercoat it if need be.

Just a quick update. I can't wait until its complete and I think Do-Clo needs mega props for this. Hopefully my saber will put him on the map.

I give you the partially finished ORS (Old Republic Saber):

There you have it. There are a few things that need to be added to the hilt such as the decortive LED on the activation plate, my covertec wheel, and the recharge port and its ready for use with the buttered toast. We even added a momentary switch on the activation plate to take advantage of the blaster block/lockup feature. Truely amazing work!

It looks so KOTOR-ish without the powdercoating I'm debating getting it done. This may just stay as it is.

WELL DONE DO-CLO! :D :D :D

Yeah, nice job!

Doesn't seem the holes in the bottom go anywhere though. :?:

very nice, I like the emitter.

That may not be finished yet, I don't have this in hand its still in Do-Clo's lab.

But even still he's spent a week machining this for me and I wanted to make sure I gave him credit, his skills are progressing :)

Very nice, indeed! I especially like the brass(?) "switch plate." Are the holes in the pommel possibly going to become speaker vents?

Yoiaholic
03-03-2007, 09:25 AM
Thats the plan, because the saber will have sound.

Since it was a sinkpipe tube that was used as an overlay there is a very good chance its brass. I'm still waiting on confimation on that. I think the brass will look great with an amber blade.

I'm sure it will look very good with an amber led....a brass thumb screw would probably look good on it, too.

Yoiaholic
03-03-2007, 09:33 AM
No thumbscrews on this bad boy. I think having one there would ruin the look of the emitter. Instead I'm going to use a low profile set screw. Its harder to add/remove the blade but I won't sacrifice the lines of the saber for that.

Thanks guys the holes in the pommel are speaker vents, the inside of the pommel is hollow to allow room for the speaker. This saber has been interesting but I am very happy with the way it looks. I may not want to give this one up

I really like the way it turned out, But what I would do is insteadof polishing it or powercoading it I would do what(I forget there name at the moment) but they used steal wool on it. it made it smooth but gave it that gunmetal color. I think that would look sweet as hell.
