I was told I should use a resistor for my black series Vader conversion, since I'm using a red LED. I'm not very sure which resistor to get. Link provided for LED used, any help would be great!

Have you read the stickied thread on Ohm's Law?

http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?17109-Tutorial-FJK-s-quot-Down-and-Dirty-quot-guide-to-Ohm-s-Law

That'll tell you exactly what you need to do to determine resistance.

I think/hope I got the math correct... Basically it says a 1w 2ohm resistor. If by chance I was wrong, what would be a negative outcome by using a wrong resistor?

If the resistance is too large, it will provide less current than you want and therefore the LED will be dimmer but no harm will be done.

If the resistance is too small, however, you will blow your LED and have to buy a new one.

If you're unsure of your math and want to double check, post all your math and ask the nice folks here to double check for you.

(3.5-2.3)/.7=1.7 rounded up is 2ohm

1.7 * .7^2=.83 rounded up is 1w

Your math is correct. You might want to using the XPE2 though, they are brighter and can be run at 1000ma.

They didn't have deep red when I was looking. I have a xpe2 in my anakin conversion, but I really wanted deep red over regular red.

You could use a filter from this (Roscolux Swatchbook) to get the deeper red your looking for. Just google around to fine it for free....will only have to pay for shipping.
