Ok I have finally decided on what kind of jedi outfit I want to make and have. I want to go with an old republic style from around the time period of the beginning of the republic once things were starting to become all civilized and the jedi were a refined force. This outfit that I have in my mind will combine the ancient oriental dress like the more modern ones do as well as some aspects from the medieval and fantasy elf outfit similar to the Tolkien wood elves. I am looking for some reference pictures and some sewing ideas since I have very little experience with sewing. The basic idea will be light colored tunic, light colored tabbards with a dark lining. these will extend in the front and back down just above the knees. the tunic will be slightly longer than normal around the length of qui-gon's.

Mainly what I am looking for are any ideas or reference pictures or places I could look to find some ideas. thanks.

Sounds interesting, I'd be keen to see what reference images you get hold of.
Are you thinking of using the KOTOR games as inspiration? There's quite a few robes and tunics in those to look at

his outfit is pretty much what type of thing I am looking for. He also has another costume that is much longer and resembles a much longer tunic. I like the longer tunic.I would love to be able to draw up some sketches but I have no visual artistic ability at all. Thanks for the suggestions. Still looking around. I am going to check out the KOTOR II as soon as I get a chance to turn the game back on and check out some of the outfits from there as well.

Kotor and KotorII are really the place to get some ideas.

There are a boatload of screenshots online with a little search.

You might find some good idas in the KOTOR comics by Darkhorse, too, if you haven't already looked.

They've made some of the costumes, Email them for tips?
Also, do an image search on google for dragon con or check out www.paralada.org he has a lot of pcs to go through, but there's some decent pics of headhunter in costume & others in various jedi robes.

The guy at headhunterpropshop got his basic costume at renstore, its a midevil knights surcoat.

They only show pics of it in the checkered pattern but they got options for black brown and a couple other solid colors.

Something like these should be easy to make looking at it. It'd just be a case of making sure you get the right amount of material to wrap across the chest, then hang comfortably as tails.

This front piece i'm assuming would have to be attached under the obi to have it sitting effectively.

Really not a fan of the cod-piece look this one gives though.... :?

I think it's more of a shadowing effect rather that a codpiece.

If you look on some of the hidden robes (Sunrider etc.) it really does look like a codpiece. I'm sure it is just lighting, but it looks like a codpiece!
