Hey everyone! I'm new to putting together saber electronics so please forgive me if this question has been answered before. I have a pre wired nbv3 because I thought it would be easier for me since I'm new to this. I have the speaker, led, and battery hooked up fine but I'm trying to figure out how to get both an led powered switch and recharge port to the two remaining plugs. I can plug the led switch into the yellow plug and it will work to turn the saber on and off (minus the led ring working) but I am struggling with how to hook the recharge port up. When I hook it up to the orange and red that splices off the battery it does not deactivate the connection to the battery. I can upload pics later but if anyone knows off hand or has a diagram how it should be wired it would be greatly appreciated.

The battery should plug into the recharge port, the sound board plugs into the other recharge port connection. Power should only be cut when you put a kill key (or other charging plug) in the recharge port.

You will need to wire up some connections for the accent LED in your switch. Read through the NB manual for some directions.

Pictures would be helpful if you're still having issues.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm attaching some pics of how I have everything hooked together at the moment. Pay no attention to the unfinishedness of the details as I will clean everything up once I figure out how I need to have everything linked together. 14144141451414614147

*** Do NOT plug the recharge port into the plug with the orange wire! That is the connection for your FoC die. You will do Bad Things(tm) to your board if you charge it like that! ***

On your switch: the two tabs without wires are for the switch LED. One goes to (+) and the other goes to (-). It should be labeled. They'll wire up like an accent LED. See the manual for detailed instructions.

Your recharge port is not wired for a kill key setup. The manual has more information on that.

I can't seem to tell what that 3rd picture is. Care to elaborate?

Did you wire the Recharge port? I was thinking the recharge port should have two connectors, one that plugs into the NB and the other that plugs into the battery.

Snipping 2 wires at the same time is a bad habit to get into (first picture). If you're ever in a situation where those wires have power, they will short and you could do bad things.

SS,

I think the 3rd picture is an accent LED in an aluminum housing/holder. At least it looks like a standard dash-mount indicator light you might find at auto-zone.

The third pic is a recharge port from radio shack that is the same size as the switch, but it only has two pins in the bottom, versus the smaller recharge port from TCSS that has three pins at the bottom. I wasn't sure if it was easier to wire the two pin versus the three, but bought it and thought I'd see what everyone thought. I can use the smaller recharge port just need something to fir the hole in my saber as it's a larger diameter.

No worries there. Those are just a clamp. Not sharp enough to cut butter. Just used them to hold the wires up.

If you want the recharge port to kill power to your board when charging, you'll need to use the 3-pin port from TCSS. When wired properly, it will cut power to the board and only allow power to flow to the battery.

I don't know that you'd harm the NB if you charged the battery with the two-pin port, but I definitely wouldn't turn the saber on while its being recharged.

Also, make sure that you wire the polarity right on the recharge port.

Ok, I think I got it. Attaching pics of what I've done so far. Minus the fact it's not as clean and professional as you guys do, but I'm learning. Everything powered on and off ok, and kill key worked. Just need to get my resistor on the LED and redo the JST connection and I think I'm good. Let me know your thoughts.

Looks fine to me. You're going to have a fun time with your cram-fu when it comes time to get all those JST connectors inside the saber. They're not big on their own, but a bunch of them together will eat up hilt space in a hurry.

Oh I'm sure! I'm just happy I got it wired correctly and it worked! And nothing blew up! lol Like I said, some cleaning up to do but overall, happy it's completed. I think next time I am going to use the soundboard without the prewire piece. Might be a little easier.

Thank you very much for the help SS!
