I'm planning on using a 4" Double female threaded connector: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/4-Double-female-threaded-connector-P123.aspx connected to a 4" Deep fluted double female threaded connector: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/4-Deep-fluted-double-female-threaded-connector-P631.aspx.

In my desired layout, I will need a recharge port and part of a PLI cutout in the thread area. I was thinking the answer would be to solder a Gender Changer: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Gender-Changer-P132.aspx to the 4" Double female threaded connector would be the solution, effectively making it a female/male piece.

However, in the description for the Gender Changer, it states that it should NOT be used in a high stress area of your hilt. This joint will be at the back end of my primary hand, almost between primary and off hand. I do want it heavy battle worthy. Is this a problem?

Or, is this the answer a Double ended male threaded connector style 1: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Double-ended-male-threaded-connector-style-1-P127.aspx and suck up/deal with the added 1/4 inch to the length?

Should I request a custom piece? Is there another option? Thanks in advance, MTFBWY.

Why not get an 8" extension and request flutes where you want them?

The deep flute piece is actually a 1.625" OD which is thicker than a regular extension. I kinda want that thickness/difference in the build.

Also, installing the switches, ports and PLI in a shorter piece will be easier for my "fat fingers". I'm not sure I could tighten the nuts well enough with chopsticks.

Hmm. Do the port and pli need to be where the threads are or can you compromise and move them somewhere else? Got a mock up of the saber design to share?

I got an MPP Clamp that I'm going to cut out a window in the band to use as a hide/reveal for the PLI and RICE Port and Recharge Port (unlock and rotate to check PLI, rotate further to access ports). I want the MPP Clamp right next to the Deep Fluted section, so one port and part of the PLI would end up in the threaded area. I have a mock up in PVC tubing (looks rough) and a cobbled together image done in MS Paint. I'm on the low-tech end of the spectrum. I'll have to see if I can post something later, gotta head out to an appt. soon. Thanks for the input so far.

The horribly drawn lines are supposed to be the deep fluted section. The MPP clamp is where I want to have the PLI and Port "hide/reveal" in a cutout I'll make in the clamps band. So, as is, my problem will be that the thread area is where I want my stuff and I'm trying to figure out the best solution.

Sorry, I've been away from my computer for a while. Sometimes I'm hit or miss on it.

I'm pretty stumped on this one too...but as a last resort, you could ask Tim to do a custom 4" M/F, and put the holes in that.

Sounds about what I thought. I originally planned on just using the gender changer, but that does not sound strong enough. The extension would probably do, but it would need to be soldered in place and add to the length. Custom piece, here we come (hopefully).
