Sink tube for shroud work over MHS v1 hilt?

Would a sink tube work as a shroud over a MHS v1 hilt?

It'll be pretty thin. Look at the second pic in my sig. The brass is 22 gauge 1.5".

Yes, it will work. In fact people do it all the time with MHSv1 parts as Tim specifically designed the V1 parts to fit inside 22 gauge sink tube (which has roughly a 1.46" I.D.). That's why MHSv1 parts are 1.45" in diameter instead of 1.5".
