Graflex Emitter Ring

So I want to start building a Luke ANH replica and I'm trying to figure out how to build the ring for the emitter. I plan to buy the bunny ears but the MHSV1 Blade Holder Style 20 emitter doesn't have the ring around the blade that the saber has in the movie. In the actual graflex it's attached to the bunny ears, but does anyone know how I could go about making that ring?

16-20 awg sheet of aluminum. Draw out the shape, cut it out, wrap on a 1" od dowel.

Never done it but that's my first thought.
