Been several years since i built a saber. Looking at building a basic stunt saber using the red Cree LED module.

Planning on using a buckpuck, but haven't really messed with them before.

So if I'm thinking correctly I need at least a 4AA battery pack to provide enough voltage to run a buckpuck.

Says red Cree's run at 1000ma.

Do I also need a resistor between the puck and the LED to limit voltage down to the recommended 2.59? If so is a 3.9ohm, 3.9 watt correct?

Thanks for any help.

From what ive read the buckpuck need 5+ volts to run properly.
No need for a resistor when using a buckpuck, the puck kinda reads what the LED needs and only feeds it what is needs. Super simple to use.

Right on. So 4AA should provide 6v. So I should be good.

And i believe I saw somewhere that the Crees outperform the Rebels? Looked at the brightness chart but looks like it hasn't been updated for a few generations.

Yep Crees are the way to go from what ive seen.

Yes, CREEs are better. I'm just gonna go ahead and suggest you use a Li-Ion solution instead of 4x AAs. Much less hassle and $ in the long run and your saber will last longer between charges. That's just me, though.
