I am wiring up my own econo board, but I'm not sure how to calculate what sort of transistor and regulator I need. I was planning on running 3, AAA batteries and using a white luxion rebel LED. I just can't wrap my head around the electronic math needed to get the correct parts. Any help would be great.

A regulator is only needed if your battery solution is over 5 volts, most of the econo board can only handle 5ish volts
A "TIP42" transistor seems to be the norm with most wiring diagrams ive seen, had to do a lot of digging to find that info

So without a regulator do I just wire the
Transistor in between the LED and board positive?

Here's a diagram by Darth Formidus, as far as I know this should work.
Just remove the 5v regulator (he didn't even need one in the diagram, he only added it because other diagrams had it).
Looks like he replaced the speaker so unless you plan to I wouldn't worry about the resister he wired to the speaker positive.
Dont forget a resistor from the transistor to the LED positive (he didn't draw one in but he wrote it in text).

not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but here goes
I recently got hold of 3 Hasbro blade builder toy sabers from ebay (surprisingly cheap) to strip for the sound boards tried the obi-wan with batteries the hum sound was fine but there was no motion sound and the clash sound was random some times sounding when the saber was still some times not at all at first I suspected a loose sensor or a trapped wire upon taking it apart the sound board is unlike any I have seen before I have done a fair few myself and cant find any like it on these forums here are two pictures showing each side the back side is blank apart from what I suspect is some kind of motion/clash sensor only one wire going out each end have I got a budget version maybe for the far east or maybe a knock off/copy any advice welcome will try the other two to see what they are like 1327313274

thanks in advance for any help you can give me
