Below is the diagram of my custom MHS Saber. As you can see, I originally planned to put the Covertec knob on the bottom near the pommel. I am now thinking that maybe closer to the choke is better, near the switch maybe? The advantage of having it near the pommel is that it hangs from the belt better without a blade, and when you grip it, your fingers are in the correct positions to use it. The advantage of having it near the switch is that it hangs better with a blade, but the disadvantage is finger placement.

Thoughts?

I've seen it done both ways. Personally, I prefer having the covertec button towards the pommel. I don't keep the blade in my saber when it's on my belt.

There's no hard and fast rule about it, and neither way is "wrong", so go with whichever you prefer. Or do both if you like. Have two covertec buttons! :)

It's as much a design choice as it is a functional one. Go with your gut!

Your design has 7" above the switch. To me it seems like that would be uncomfortable to have above the belt.
