So I've been lurking on here a while and quietly building my own custom saber using lots of the advice and tutorials you awesome people have been posting up (Seriously, thanks for all the help you didn't know you gave to me).
I'd like to be able to say "Here's my saber!", but unfortunately I'm still trying to get hold of a couple of parts.
So I'll just have to settle for showing you a 3d render of my saber instead. :)

Welcome to the Forums. You do good 3D work.

that is a stunning render. If your project comes out half as nice it will be a stellar first saber.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it.
I used blender to create the model. It's my first attempt at using the node editor and cycles render though (both are part of blender).
Cycles render really handles lighting so much than blenders original render engine.
For those of you who want to try, here's the two part tutorial that I used to create my render:

Part 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6lSfOfiXHY)

That's a damn good 3D render. I hope it turns out at least half as good as it looks
