I don't even have the parts for my first build (stunt saber), and I'm already reading up on how to add sound. I've read the NB manual, and the first few pages of threads in this sub-forum, and see the results of not formatting the SD card. Not that it really matters, but being a computer geek, I'm curious why the card has to be fully formatted when changing sound file.

Does the NB "see" the deleted files as well as the new files? Does anyone know?

Thank you.

It needs to be done because the files are only read in a linear fashion, and if they aren't, bad things tend to happen.

In the interest of keeping his boards fast, responsive, and inexpensive, Erv had to write the code as efficiently as he could. This means that his boards make assumptions about how the files on the cards will be laid out. The chips he uses don't have the room for a fully featured operating system. :)

It's a fair enough compromise. You get the best boards on the market, but you have to format them when you change fonts.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks FJK and SS.
