Hi all I am currently building a new hilt/modifying the one i made last year. I am really intrigued by the idea of doing the hilt so that it is more octagonal than cylindrical. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on the matter. The only option I can think of are to grind down the MHS parts I plan on using unless they make octagonal aluminum tubing. I am going for a hilt kind of inspired by the dwarvish weapons in the hobbit movies and all of there staffs have a really cool shape that I want to capture. Like this

Well, I don't know about Octagonal, but I do have one that is kinda Hexagonal that is pretty old. Here are a couple of pictures:

I'm sure you can do it but you would need machining equipment. would probly have to use the choke blank material so you have enough wall thickness to make a hex without breaking through the wall. which would give your little internal space. I think it would probably be quite a bit of work to say the least.

That is impressive FJK I like the hexagonal as well. Those were the same thoughts and concerns I had as well Snilam. I also have seen octagonal aluminum tubing but then I run into the issue of internals.
