If I were to get overly ambitious and decide I want to toy with the idea of using my NBv2 alongside a 12W LED module, how should I go about wiring it? I understand that to get the full power of the 12W module, I would have to use a PEX board with a resistor. I can do that but I want to make sure I ask first before I fry the only NB I have. I am using a 18650 Battery source. Any advice from anyone is much appreciated! Thanks!

I will give some advice... Use a tri-cree instead and you will find advice here on how to use it and it will more than likely be brighter than the 12w anyways. Wattage does not determine how bright a LED is.

Thank you, Tim! I will look into that right away. I wanted a White-White-White LED which (for some weird reason) I thought was unavailable. My bad.

For single-die versions, you have http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Cool-White-Cree-XP-L-CopperNova-P1017.aspx and http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/White-Cree-XP-E2-CopperNova-P1003.aspx

Or you can just get the custom Tri-Cree and select all white dice. http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Custom-Tri-Cree-LED-P1035.aspx

If you go the Tri-Cree route, wire two of the dice in parallel, and use the third for FoC. It'll work just fine with your NB that way.

Silver Serpent, I can do what you have mentioned. But if I do not want FoC, then will the diagram below work? I found this in another thread in this forum. Please advise. I'm also assuming each dice will require a 1ohm 2W resistor.

That looks correct. You're using the PEX to extend the 2A current limit of the NB, so you'll be fine.

try the cree XP-L , runs roughly at the same brightness as 2 rebel whites, and could be brighter if you want to extend it past 2000ma

here's my Cree XP-L running at 2400ma in broad day light (my living room has 4 Windows, and this photo was taken with the blinds open)

Good stuff! Did you outfit that PLI board to the NB V2?

Ishtob, have you tried using colour filters with it? Curious to know how good it looks with the XP-L.

Alright guys, I have ordered the Tri Cree that I want. I was sold on it shortly after Tim suggested it. And I am looking forward to blinding my corneas when that thing fires up. Except, it looks like it never will. Because, the PEX board... that tiny, wonderful, all powerful board is out of stock and I need one in the next week. I understand the Nb v2 hack is paralleling the points from the board to the PEX to extend the 2A range. It looks like a mosfet with what looks like a cutoff diode protecting the board. Also, I could be full of crap. Can anyone suggest a workaround that would let me power the three LEDs while protecting the board, P L E A S E?. Again, I would buy the board if it were available...

That's pretty much what you're looking at. I think it's a resistor and not a diode, but I could be wrong.
