Hi all,

Firstly i'll start by saying my electronics knowledge are basic.

Right i've bought myself a ROTJ Luke saber, pre-modded to lux 3.

I found a link on the forums which shows how to strip the saber down, having done that i'm looking to replace the activator switch.

My current idea is to shorten the control box and cut the black switch cover to half the size, but maybe there's an even better option...

Any suggestions?

i don't think you can shorten the switch box unless you want screw holes showing. the MOST you could do would be shorten it like maybe a couple millimeters. the MR sabers are mainly designed not to be modded on the outside. electronics are a whole nother story.

Ok, would it be okay to swop the slide switch to a push button?

you could probably do that, but why would you want to?

Why..?

Simple really...

Why would i want a fx that looks the same as everyone elses?

with a push button it would look pretty bad, but thats my opinion, dont let that ruin your idea of a pushbutton switch.

You'd have to find a pushbutton the same size. Like all of the sabers there is a box for the slide switch. I bet you can find one if you look through catalogs of places like mouser, digikey, etc...

i was considering leaving the switchbox off of a few lukes myself, it makes the sound fuller...

I'm not suprised... I haven't messed with converting any Lukes. I'll just an MHS version someday.

That gives it more room to resonate. My Initiate that I just put sound in there is no resonance chamber, but you can feel the sound traveling up the blade. It's even a bit louder with blade off. :?
