I am starting a new lightsaber soon and wonder if one of random's acrylic blade would work well w/luxeons, becuz the blade would still have color when off. I would probably need film in side the blade... Do you think that this is a good idea? I know that the blade won't be as bright.

I moved it.

No they don't work that well. Ryan's are solid and that is not condusive to lighting up as well. You'd do better to have a daylight acrylic blade and a night blade that is normal.

Ones like the RLSA blades are hollow. They'd be better, but at a 1/2" ID they don't light up well either. Again you'd need a normal blade for night and in the day you still wouldn't be able to tell it's on.

Also be aware LED blades are traditionally 1" too. All the acrylic blades out there from saber builders are 3/4".

please also keep this in mind but if you use a colored blade most of the brightness is taken out, use a clear blade and all is well :)

A colored hollow blade can be very bright if lighted properly the big problem is that most colored tubing is acrylic :?

Is it possible to find an 3/4 od colored acrylic tube that will fit into a 3/4 id polyc tube? like the diffuser? btw what is the diffuser made out of anyhow?

Sure... if it's the same OD as the PolyC's ID it should work. Since a hairs distance is enough to make it not go in you'd probably have to lap the blade to get it to slide perfectly.

The diffuser here is 1/32" nylon I believe... or something close. You won't be finding it cheaper anywhere else so trying to find it elsewhere is a pretty moot point.

ya i did some lookin into it and found tim is the best bet. heck even the leds are cheeper. I know that acrylic is kind of fragile but how would it hold up inside a polyc tube?

The reason PolyC works well is because it bends and isn't super rigid. Putting acrylic inside it wouldn't help with the fact that acrylic is still a brittle plastic that likes to sheer.
