I'm completely new to this site. I've been wanting to build a saber for a month or so and I've been reading as much as I can here. I've seen a lot of ideas about activating sabers with things like magnets, remote controls and RFID's. I was wondering if anyone has tried using the Star Wars Force Trainer toy from a number of years ago to interface with a saber? Maybe it could be something like a training saber that won't activate unless the user can achieve a certain level of concentration? I've never owned the toy, itself, so I don't know how well it works, or if the necessary components would be too large to fit in a saber. I just thought it might be cool to use that head set as a way to control the saber somehow.

Here's a link to the toy if you're not familiar with it.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

It's an interesting idea. To my knowledge, no one in the saber community has done what you're suggesting. Feel free to give it a shot and report back your experience.

I had one of those for like 10 minutes then sent it back. they are all hype no science. the ball just floats around randomly

Thanks, Sidd. Looks like you saved me about $115. To bad it doesn't work.

What about something like this? (http://www.robotshop.com/en/neurosky-mindwave-eeg-sensor.html?gclid=CjwKEAjw1KGqBRC55bru-sa7zCcSJAAxsBf5H1M_oFajbaLY_pjSOrJrVmQbjL8x-5gAzW0WcsFRXhoCaGHw_wcB) You'd probably need to find a phone app and install a Bluetooth transceiver in your saber, but it could work. I know with a lot of these type of brain readers they say you need to practice to figure out the exact kind of levels it responds to, but something like this is designed to give data to a computer, so you should be able to map the levels you generate when you focus appropriately and then program the app to respond to it and send an activation signal to the saber

Thanks, Zacharyah! That looks pretty cool. I forgot about that site. It's got some really cool stuff. I might give it a shot, but not until I get good at the basics first. If I ever get the head set to interface with a lightsaber, I'll be sure to post the results!
