Alright, so I looked at bit more into chassis systems and I have a couple of questions:
1. on this (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MHS-speaker-and-4x-AAA-battery-holder-P315.aspx) can I put the nano biscotte v2 (on top)?
2. This will fit into this (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Hilt-style-4--P866.aspx) right?
Thanks!

1. Yes.
2. Yes.

Just remember that the Nano Biscotte cannot use two Li-ion cells in that holder, you'll need a dummy cell. you might be better off using these parts instead:
http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MHS-speaker-mount-V6-For-28mm-Speakers-P892.aspx

http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/18650-Single-Cell-Holder-P886.aspx

Add whichever speaker you want to use, and you have solution that will give you much greater run time and the holder is specifically designed to hold both the battery and the sound board.

Thanks for the reply!!! Ok, so I was planning on using the 4 AAA the pack holds, and calculating the resistor based off of that.

4 AAA is 6v, and that exceeds the 5.5v limit of the Nano Biscotte.

ah I see. So if I leave out a battery, that will reduce the voltage to 4.5 volts. That should be acceptable, yes?

Or could I just use this to get 3 volts: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MHS-speaker-and-2x-AA-battery-holder-P766.aspx
I know the LED will be dimmer, since the CREE runs on 3.58 Volts (the green CREE)

If you're going to do that, why not use a single 14500 Li-ion cell and a dummy cell?

From the Nano Biscotte page:

•Power supply : 3.4 to 5.5v / 2A (with the High-power LED). SINGLE li-ion cells (18650 or 14500) or 4xAA rechargeable NiMH batteries recommended

3v is not enough. 6v is too much. Alkaline batteries are not ideal for use in this setup. If you must use alkalines for whatever reason, then you have to use 3. No more. No less. Bump it up to AA size if possible. The AAA batteries will not last long, and you'll likely see odd behavior from the sound board as the batteries drain.

As FJK said, go with a li-ion solution if at all possible.

Best idea ever!!! I'll surely be using this trick in future builds!!!

Let me start off by saying I 100% agree that you should use a Lithium Ion if possible. That being said, one thing if you just have to use a four cell setup. If you can find Nickle Metal Hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries, they are 1.2V, so four of the are 4.8V and still within the NB's voltage range. It's pretty dangerous in my opinion (too easy to forget and use Alkaline instead), but it can be done.

I have to agree with this guy. I have the 2 AA + speaker holder in my saber (w/ a royal blue rebel LED) and with the 14500 + dummy cell, I can say my
36" blade is more than bright enough. The runtime isn't quite as long as I'd like, so might be switching to a single 18650 at some point in the not too
distant future. (Which would also require a change in the speaker, bat, & NB mounting.)

If you're set on alkaline, one possibility would be to use a 4 AA holder, with 3 batteries & a dummy cell. As has been mentioned earlier, those batteries
just won't last very long and constantly having to replace them would get expensive real fast.

thank you so much for the tried and true advice! I'll surely be using the info in my next build! :D

by 14500 are you referring to these: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/TrustFire-Protected-37V-900mAh-14500-Lithium-Battery-2-Pack-P342.aspx
