Okay, so I just finished my first saber build (MHS v1).
10538

Since it was a birthday present to myself, I didn't want just a cool-looking "flashlight", so I jumped in with both feet and went for a few extras:

Accent LED on switch
Nano Biscotte sound board
Charge port

The design is pretty simple and, needless to say, I was very impressed with Tim's work, when I opened the box. Here are some pictures:

The problem I initially ran into was how to place the charge port at the base, below the speaker. I didn't think it would be possible without drilling another hole, but I came up with a solution: some careful filing, and a few drilled holes:

The guts of it are currently held "in place" by a piece of tube used to protect fluorescent tubes. It may not be elegant, but it's functional. I'm gonna see if I can maybe fashion a sled out of PVC pipe, so that I can use it on future builds. I see how this can get addicting. :)

So, that's it. Thanks for the help!

Well done on your first saber! As I tell all the beginners, keep a close eye on your wallet. It's nearly impossible to build just one. :)

I'm liking the overall design, it's pretty simple but that makes it great. I wonder how long did you take to finish it. Though it's your first-built saber, it looks really well-made.

If you add in the thinking time, it took about 2-3 days. Once I got my package, I took everything out, drooled a bit :), then started looking at how everything needed to go together. After some store runs to get materials and a few tools, it took about a day to put everything together. I'm real meticulous, so I work kinda slowly.

Nice build. I like the simple design. That red looks good too. And I do like what you did with the re-charge area.

I really like the wiring you did around the speaker for the re charge port. Helps me with possible future builds and ideas to make a really interesting, and crafty build.

Thanks, guys!

I went with the Deep Red Luxeon Rebel, but I don't see it listed in the store anymore.

Nice job on that speaker mount mod...I did the exact same thing a few years ago for a pommel led:

Keeps the wires from getting smashed/broken by the pommel when you thread it on.

Agreed about a nice job on the speaker mod. I wasn't planning very far ahead when I decided to use the recharge and rice port pommel insert with speaker mount 5. Lesson learned. I had to get creative.

Thank you!

Yeah, that was me being creative. Didn't plan for that. Started lining everything up, then thought, "Oh crap! How can I make this work?!" What I do have to do, if I want to take the pommel off, though, is hold the pommel insert with some needle-nose pliers, then unscrew it, so the recharge port wires don't twist.

I love what you did with your recharge port! When I first ignited my saber, I had this really odd buzzing sound, which turned out to be the pommel insert with the recharge port screwed in. I tightened that then found another buzz which was caused by the port wires rubbing up against the speaker.
