I recently found a Luke ROTJ MR 2005 at a thrift store. I want to fix it and get it in order if possible.
Even with parts that aren't particular to that model.
It is missing the battery pack and the blade is damaged. Being that I bought it for 6$ :p !
What are the odds of me being able to fix this?
Do I need a battery pack specific to that model?
How do I tell if the sound board is still intact?
Are the newer hasbro parts compatible?

Even if it is missing everything, that is still an absolute steal. I would start with a luke ROTJ TCSS conversion kit and a tri rebel ggw. The board might still be intact and usable, but a nano biscotti v2 or a pc would be a great upgrade and you could sell the hasbro board on another forum.

Ok Thanks
What about the missing battery pack?I really haven't found anything on that so far.

a 3.7v lithium ion cell from Tim should power the board in there just fine.

Ok thanks,
Being that the end is completely empty, what type of speaker should I put in there? I guess it depends on the diameter, but also the lithium ion battery.

Battery type doesn't matter in the case of the speaker. Any of them will do. I like the bass speakers myself, but it is up to you.

The saber still has the pommel I hope?

Yes I still have the pommel, hopefully I can figure out how to fit the jpg photos in here so I can show you what I am working with.
The hilt is hollow except for the switch.
I'm not really sure everything I need to put in there as far as a battery packs and speakers.

Here it is a picture of the saber, I will take a better pictures of it once I am home.

Do you think the 4 AA would work better or the 6 battery one?

Really have no experience doing this, thanks for the help!

I would start there. Depending on if you plan on keeping your current soundcard, I would opt for either a single cell solution or a dual cell pack for your batteries. I would advise against the 6aa pack, for numerous reasons such as space in the hilt and too much voltage.

Thanks,
No I know where the tutorial is for that. I'm just more concerned about getting the power connected. If there is a tutorial for how to build a saber that would be helpful. I'm thinking now that I should just start with an empty hilt and build it up from there.

Basic saber building tutorials can be found here: http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/forumdisplay.php?35-New-to-the-saber-scene-Start-Here

If you want specific help with either the Nano Biscotte or Petit Crouton sound boards, read through their manuals (found on the appropriate page in the TCSS shop.)

That should get you started.

Okay thanks! any idea if any of the MPS inserts would fit with the MR pommels?

Not without modification. How handy are you with files and/or rotary tools?

Never really filed metal down. I would give it a try though. I would probably need to file the pommel then until the insert fits right?
