So I did my first soundboard install the other night. Everything worked fine until one of the wires connected to the speaker came loose and the negative LED wire. I resoldered them back on and tested it and it worked, but after I heat shrinked the connections I wasn't getting any sound. The LED and flickering still works fine. I also didn't realize the back of the speaker was magnetic until it latched on to my soldering iron while I was reattaching the wire.

I am hoping that I just damaged the speaker but wanted to get some expert opinions first. I don't have another speaker to try at this time.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I have had that happen to me before too. Its most likely the speaker, but a pic of the wiring on the board would be preferable so we can rule anything else out.

Pics of the board and speaker. Should I be using heat shrink on the speaker connections? It seemed strange that it worked before I heat shrinked the re-soldered connection.
I didn't touch the board connections, just reattached the two loose wires.

Well, the first thing is you have WAAAYYYYY too much exposed wire on the board side. the exposed wire should be 1/8" tops (less preferably). The board side should be completely redone, and you should remove the SD card first to make sure nothing happens to it.

Thanks for the advice. In hindsight it seems rather obvious, I was just focusing on trying to not fry the board with my soldering and not thinking about the wire. Anyway, I am going to redo the board and I have a new speaker on the way, hopefully that will get things rolling again.
