So the electronics for my saber arrived today. And I forgot to order a 5w resistor... I have plenty of 1/4 watt resistors on my desk, but I calculate that I need a 2.2ohm 2W resistor... so that 1/4W probably won't cut it huh?

So anyway the hilt parts of my order haven't shipped yet, do you think I should add in a couple of the 5w resistors, or try to make due with the 1/4w resistors I've got?

I am always of the theory right tool right job, never wrong tool right job. Taking chances can cause issues that are not cheap. However I am not electronic specialist.

The 1/4 watt resistor will get hot, let the smoke out, and then likely allow your LED to do the same. All in a couple of seconds, depending on power source.

Get the correct resistor. You can always use a higher wattage resistor, but you never go lower.
