View Full Version : Mounting the speaker.

I didn't want to do this, but after searching for a few hours I couldn't find what I was looking for. (

I have a speaker mount in my cart right now (along with a bass speaker, NB V2, 18650, and bat holder) and I was planning combining all of these to fit at the back of the mount so the speaker would be the furthest thing back. My saber is all MHS parts, and is just a stunt saber that I am giving the sound treatment to. My question is: how do these mounts ACTUALLY fit into the hilt? I mean, if I put the speaker mount into the bottom of my hilt, will it slide around up and down the hilt? Or will it be snug and be hard to remove? How do you guys go about securing your speaker mounts?

From your list of parts, I'm assuming you're talking about this speaker mount: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MHS-speaker-mount-V6-For-28mm-Speakers-P892.aspx

There is a lip on the end where the speaker goes. This lip should lock in place between the pommel and another section of MHS. Some speaker mounts have this lip, and others don't. The ones that don't have the lip are generally attached to a chassis system and secured by other means (set screws, locking discs, etc).

Thank you for the info. I was planning on using this one: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MHS-speaker-mount-V3-For-28mm-Speakers-P358.aspx

From the picture it does look like it has a lip, although the description does not specifically mention it... Do you know if it does?

Ok so i need some help too. This is my first build with sound and speakers. i got:

MPS Insert style 1
MHS speaker mount V4 - For 28mm Speakers
MPS6 MPS Pommel style 6
Insert O-ring

My problem is I can't figure out, or even know it should be this way, how to get the o-ring to work with the insert. It should be that once installed, the o-ring holds the insert to the pommel securely correct?

Ive found this link, but this only shows good tips and tricks for the speaker and speaker holder, not the inserts and o-ring:

So the two options for which way the insert goes in are:

I believe it is the second one because it makes the most sense, looks correct and doesn't fall out with the o-ring. If this is correct, then the inside looks like this:

And it doesn't look like there is enough room for the o-ring to fit inbetween. Is this the area that the o-ring is supposed to be and if so, how do you push it under there in such a tiny space and doing that without damaging the o-ring?

I know it is a lot of questions to help answer, but I hope the pictures help and you can either explain it better or point me to another post or video that can walk me through it. All the other parts of the saber construction i think i have got down.

Thanks in advance!!!

Well, the pommel insert should look like picture #2. HOWEVER, your real problem is that you got the insert O-ring meant for MHS v2 pieces, and you have MHS V1 pommel (which is larger) from the looks of it. That O-ring won't work, you would need a C-clip

Well, thanks. Since TCSS doesn't have them, where would you recommend buying them from? Also, would it be just as good to super glue it?

You can sometimes find them at your local hardware store. I can't remember the exact size you'd need, but I've seen them at Ace before.
