Has anyone out there tried Pommel Insert 12 with the belt clip?

Did it rattle or get in the way when you did spins?

I'm using it. I do notice a rattle, but it's slight with my resonance chamber through the pommel. Doesn't get in the way with spinning, but again I have a fairly long hilt.

I've got one on a saber i'm just about finished with. Can't tell you about the spins, but it does rattle, though not badly IMO (make sure those screws are snug).
I think any time you have a D-ring, it's going to rattle a little due to the give (unless you can find one that is really tight).

The problem with a tight fitting d-link would probably be it would stick in different positions, then it would get in the way or make it harder to get the saber on and off a belt clip.

I found that the belt clip here does not really go well with that pommel d-ring. It gets stuck.

Mine did rattle as well. The solution I found for it though was to take a bit of heat shrink, cut it lengthwise and wrap it around the base of the D-Ring. Then I glued the ends back together. It made the ring just thick enough that it doesn't rattle around but moves easily when I need it to.

Another solution is to get rid of the dring and use another material. I've used one before to hold a tassel.

I have a couple of those in a couple sabers. I can tell you that the rattle you hear is some times the "D" ring and some times it is the insert itself. Once you tape off/use heat shrink on the "flat" part of the ring, it reduces the rattle a bit. Really not a big issue with saber operation, or sound. Unless its rattling so bad you can't hear your saber :D
Oh yeah @Sevinzol.....:D so bad dude soo baad.... I'm still chuckling :)

Has anyone tried opening up the holes on this insert? Mine sounds just a bit muffled.

Should I open all of the holes a little bit? A few of the holes a lot? Anyone got any tips?

Thanks in advance.

Put holes on the other side of the speaker as well. Something closer to the emitter, if your design allows for it.

Another thing to do, depending on which speaker mount method you used, is to add holes ro vent the backside.of.the speaker mount. This works well on the v2 & v3 mounts.

Thanks for all of the replies. Silver Serpent's idea of holes near the emitter end is something I had never considered. I did an experiment and pulled the blade out with the saber on and can hear a huge difference. Unfortunately, my saber design does not lend itself well to putting holes anywhere on that end. I will keep that in mind for my next build.

So I went out on a limb....

I decided to go ahead and open up the holes. No guts, no glory, right? Well, it paid off well. I used the drill bit that came with my 8-32 tap set (don't know the size off the top of my head) and it worked great. I drilled out all of the holes except the two directly in line with the D-Ring. In case you are wondering, the D-Ring I used is from Home Depot, not the one with the kit.

The sound difference with the opened up holes is night and day. I realize that this did remove some of the metal that gives strength to the insert, but I will not be doing any heavy rigging off of my pommel so I think it will be fine. The sound results are well worth it and I think it looks quite nice, too.
