Well, I'm sure some of you may be aware of my previous lightsaber thigh holster, made mostly from nylon webbing. Well, since I created and have worn and tested that 2.0 version, I have wanted to fabricate a leather lightsaber thigh holster.
My first idea, as so many other people want/suggest, was to make an actual holster, similiar to that of the force lances seen on Andromeda. Well, most hilts are not smooth plain cylinders, and many have several protrusions, such as switches, buttons, and various screws, including blade thumbscrews.
Anyway, to get something that would be compatible with alomst all my current hilts, I decided to modify my original holster design, which allows the wearer to show off the hilt while wearing it, without covering the majority of it up, in a pocket-type holster. Since most of my hilts now sport a covertec knob, I decided to make a holster that used a covertec-style clip, but highly modified, so many different lenghts of hilts could fit, and also so it is truely one-handed and FAST! There are no locking knobs/clips, just friction, and a deeper groove. I first used a piece of PVC pipe, which flwxed too much, and I quickly searched for, found, and fabricated a new 'covertec' clip from a staniless steel plate, about 1mm thick. Doing this used 12 (yes twelve) dremel cutting discs!
This holster was designed and built for wearing on the right leg only, not 'reversible' like my previous holsters.
Anyway, without further ado, I present my leather lightsaber thigh 'holster'.
