I will be using 2 AA batteries and plan on running a Hasbro Econo board. What kind of resistor should i use if any for the LUXEON Rebel star Red LED. Thank you in advance.

well I started with this from the Shop: "Red 106lm @ 700mA 2.4v - Run at 700mA"
and plugged it into this site http://ledcalc.com/ with
3.0v supplied
2.4v dropped across LED
700 mA
1 led
and got the answer
1 Ohm 1/2 Watts
closest I found in the store is 1 Ohm, 2 Watt

somone please check this as I'm pretty rusty at this stuff.
BTW My hasbro board uses 3 AA batts not 2.
you could also use 4 AAs and then you could drive the LED with a BuckPuck-700mA-4-wire (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/BuckPuck-700mA-4-wire-P363.aspx) and the batteries should last longer.

Sevinzol is correct. And yes, the econo boards are meant to run on 3 AA alkalines, not two. I've never tested one with just two alkalines. It might work, it might not, or it might just work a little oddly.

If you bump up to 4.5v (a 3 alkaline pack), then you'll need to recalculate your resistor. You can use the one Sevinzol linked, or the one in my signature. Or just Google for "LED Resistor Calculator."

a better solution would be to run a single li-ion cell (a 14500) you will get much longer run times, it can run your LED and board better, and (obviously) it is reusable!
