This is one of those quirky things that is probally going to be debated endlessly.

My guess: 28 inches

That is what I am afraid of, I am building a Yoda style saber and I want to get the blade size right.

That's what I figured. There does not seem to be anything definitive from what I have looked up so far. I am afraid that unless the actual dude(s) that did the work on yoda speak up, it is going to be a debatable issue.

For the math buffs: Yoda is .66 meters tall.

Assuming (which is inherently dangerous), that the typical Jedi is 2 meters tall, and the average blade length for the average Jedi is 1 meter long, then Yoda, being 66 centimeters tall, would need a blade 66% of 50% of one meter to keep scale...or 33cm = ~13 inches

Well... 2 meters is Chewbacca's height at 7 foot. Even so you can see how scaling it that way is ridiculous. 13" is definatly too short for what we saw on-screen.

We can piss and debate all we want. I'd use between 24" and 30".

My thinkin on a blade that is 26-28 inches is that looks about right for my youngest and I pretty much eye them up as Yoda size.

A 30 incher with 2 inches shoved in the holder gives a nice 28 inch usable blade.

Ok I have cut the blade so the length of Yoda's blade is 28 inches.

I would think with Yoda's lightsaber style, that his saber blade would be close to his height.

It doesn't really matter how long his saber is when he's a swirling vortex of grumbling death.

I thought about it another way. If the average saber for the average Jedi is say...11 inches long (pulling this number from my buttcrack), and Yoda's saber is 5 7/8" long, then Yoda's saber is ~53.4% as long as a full-sized Jedi's saber. If a Jedi's blade is 33 inches long, then by similar thinking, his blade would be 53.4% as long or 17.62 inches long.

Still seems too short...or Yoda has a disproportionately long blade for his size.

The 28 inch blade feels about right for the saber hilt which is 7.5 inches long.

Looks good don't it Do-Clo?

For small sabers a thing or two learned I have.

ok, the one i posted pics that i made, and used a green acrylic blade in, was 24 inches from hilt to tip.

what i did was figure around the 36 inches mostly used for the regular hilt blades length in relation to hilt size. then just reducing the hilt to blade ratios down to the yoda size hilt the blade comes out being 24 inches.

you could go 25 and noone would notice. but this is how i figured mine out.

Yoda blade is only like 16 inches

How did you come to this figure, was it a WAG or is there some documentation that states the size. No offense intended but I would really like to know the correct size of the movie blade.

do-clo, look back at my pics of my yoda saber and see the 24 inch blade on mine and see if it looks right to you. but i reccommend 24 inches with 2 inches in the hilt so a total of 26 inches alltogether.

I ended up cutting mine to 28 inches which ends up with a 26 inch blade that looks about right.
