EDIT: september 2015 the hilt got the CF7, I'm now in the process to test different blades (whites, clear, photon blades)
details in my last post in this thread.
Thanks for reading.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen
this is a post I already made on FX saber first but it was very important to me to post it here since the sabers of this topics are MHS based.
Please dont ask Tim if he can redo this parts, as a prototype and special project it was all experimental and not in an industrial production purpose yet. If it become possible in the future I'm sure we will be awarned here. All my apologies for my bad English as it is not my natural language. Thanks for your understanding.

I would like to share a work in progress project with you on this year's early month. This is about a common-design double lightsaber, nothing very exciting except it is made of titanium, (grade 5 or Ti-6Al-4v).
Build on TCSS modular hilt system standard (with Tim's agreement Thanks you!!) it is designed to be effective and durable with no too much fancy decoration.

It is named Organophaos which mean if I'm right "tool of light" in ancient Greek. It was an incredible pain to lathe, a nightmare. I have found someone enough talented and crazy to accept the challenge but as it was so difficult to machine he would never do it again therefor he asked me to keep is name private; we will call him Ephaistos (the god blacksmith) since he deserve it.
It was a real honor to work on this with him.

I still need a coupler (wip) and the boxes are aluminium (and will stay that way for now).

One thing I have tried on this project is media blasting: here is three different surfaces:
one blank, out from the lathe, mirrored surface (blade holder's cone)
one sanded (aluminium oxid) matte surface
one beads blasted (glass beads with only one shot per beads) is the satined surface.

It is interesting to see how the light reflect in different ways and give a different look to the saber (lighter or darker) with a changing environment.

There is no covertech knob but titanium screw that will work the same way while softer to hands.

At last, this saber is made to carry the best lightsaber engine ever made, Plecter Labs Crystal Focus and I hope for two CF7 DS.

Sorry for the bad quality pics I'll redo it asap with a real camera.

You can see other pics in my album (before surface treatment for example and beside a Maul Master Replica)

post scriptum: I have now the two CFV7DS and have begun the wire soldering
for records each enpty handle is 424grs loud.

I saw these in person. They are very nice (and very heavy). Can't wait to see them finished.

Beautiful. Those must be rather heavy.

Thank you Gents
Sir LDM @ Saber Summit I presume :)
Well considering that, when I was a sabersmith myself, all my handle were stainless steel (inox 316L) "heavy" is something very relative to me LOL
but I admit with 2x18650 by handle it will gain weight. I planed to remove a bit more metal from the blades holders but it would have been risky for the piece itself.

Indeed. It was at Saber Summit III. They are great. I can see how they aren't so heavy when one is used to Stainless.

Oh, these were those two sabers? Sweet.

For some actual figures.. Holder style 6 in aluminum is .215 lbs and in Titanium is .340 lbs

Hey Tim again nice job :) I'm still on my cram-fu and about to post again questions :-)

Ok Here are some news
http://nsm08.casimages.com/img/2015/04/13//15041306384816547413167361.jpg (http://www.casimages.com/img.php?i=15041306384816547413167361.jpg)

This saber will be complete when it will get the coupler.
For now like as seen on the pic with full electronics each hilt is 686grs.

This sabers uses Quadpod
So I had to ask a fellow sabersmith, JQ Sabers for a custom heatsink I screwed in a modified TCSS housing

You can see here how it goes: maximum light thru the blade

Next step:
I got from VV two Photon Blades I will test with Royal Blue and classic blue (BBBW).
I will also compare to a classic balde with green cree XPE2 on white and clear blades.
Each quadpod run on 3 permanent dice, so the Flash on clash is less impressive as the white is like 25% of theorically increasing light, on 3cree system the flash on clash is more like 33% due to the ration (I mean theorically as the FoC is a different color and the human eyes get its own interpretations)

here red blades
http://nsm08.casimages.com/img/2015/04/13//15041306372216547413167359.jpg (http://www.casimages.com/img.php?i=15041306372216547413167359.jpg)

For records each saber weight is 680grs.

and another pic, beside the "Dark Hornet" another MHS saber I have build for a friend (his design).
You will note the kill plug is illuminated, I rotate it for activating the saber.

Very nice. Those red blades look mean though. I like :P

Thanks you Jedimastergarcia87. I'll try the green ones next days to come (green XPE2 and blueXPE2 royal + Photon Blades ?) and classic blue XPE2 with the Photon Blade ? later as I purchased them later (the leds) as the classic blue could be more efficient than the royal blues ones.

EDIT:
I just received the classic blue leds yesteraday, I will be able to wire them tonight and hopfully to shoot pics tomorrow. I'll post pics ASAP.
EDIT 2:
The 15/09/2015 (yesterday) I was able to wire the two quadpod with classic blue.
so now Organophaos can run with:

RedRedRedWhite
GreenGreenGreenWhite
RBlueRBlueRBlueWhite (Royal blue)
BlueBlueBlueWhite (Classical blue)

White for the FoC

All this X2 because two sabers...
The last I would try would be a purple but with 3 dices + 1white (B R R W? B B R W?)

The two shades of blue are to be tested with the PhotonBlades from Vader's Vault, pics tonight if everything is ok.

First I appologies for my poor spells and vocabulary I assume I just have reached the limit of my "in live" english!
Toutes mes excuses I'll have to improve this too haha.

Ok the first comparaison is between the two kind of blue led : the classic blue XPE2 and the royal blue XPE2.
On the following pic, the greener blade is the classic blue, on the eye it looks homogenic green with a very small bit of yellow (very few), the green is warm and intense.

On the indigo blade, to the eye the core looks almost blue but the sides are greener, to me it appears to have a wide variety of collors from white/blue to a bit green thru indigo, this is a really strange but nice effect. To me with the Royal blue the blade should have one or two more reflective layer to get it more uniforme as the blade “looks” brighter in the bottom and tip than in the middle.
Keep in mind this is my interpretation:

So I buyed a luxmeter to get something more…scientific but it will be sure for me as far I mesure all the blade compared with the same luxmeter in the same condition.
To me a big room, dark as much as possible, the luxmeter cell is placed looking the blade, 30cm distance pointing in the middle of the blade (not the base, not the tip, in the halfway).

Greener blade: 268 Lux
Indigo: 250 Lux

3XPE2 led at same time on quadpod (+ 1wFoC) each blue leds run at 1Amp for the test.

The eye don’t catch de difference of "amount of light intensity"…

Next test will be Green XPE2 with white and transparent blade / Photon Blade.

From now I can say this new tech bring 3 things:
A better uniformity to the whole blade
Possibility to get different kind of colors with new shades
And a more intense light, I’ll try this point later.
It is definitively something to dig, a very good surprise for saberworld.

if you look at the pic you'll see it is a bit blury, as in automatic mode the camera should have switch to a low light mode, with a longer pose, in real life it do not look so intense keep it in mind.
