weathering rivets/screws with olive bake?

I'm going to remove and weather some screws and rivets via the olive oil bake method from a rebuilt saber. Will doing so affect how well they screw back into the hilt?

Nah. Just try not to get any on the threading. But even if you do, you can just work it through with some wd40.

waitaminute, rivets or screws? If rivets, then it REALLY doesn't matter.
