On The new FXs people have been saying that the Q means removable blades. Thoughts? Will it be led? Lux? Any thoughts or comments?

The "joe jedi" thing really has me WTF though! At least it seems the Obi TPM is in the works.

True, but I wouldn't pay more for an accurate size, or sounds, or removable blades. The product should already have product development built into the price. As such advancements shouldn't automatically up the price. All of those would be easy fixes anyway... I ain't paying extra for them.

If the Mara saber hits $150 like the current Qui-Gon CE I may pick it up. There is a whole bruhaha about the images though and what you'll actually get. That is a Parks EL in the picture. All of those pics are not MR's. Nope, not even prototypes... they flat out copy and pasted fan-made stuff for the posters and these are just "possible products". Ticks a lot of them off because the fans get no credit or money from pre-sales based on those images.

the luke graflex fx from EP4 OR 5 already exists my friend bought one like one or two years ago,i recently converted it to a white led,and yes it is mr the pommel is marked.it had sounds and everything.

Now if they up and copy someones completely custom hilt design that has never been in print or on screen then yeah, I would be right there to argue on that.

The Obi-wan saber excites me, couldn't be more bored with Yoda, not too excited about Vader either (already have ESB, don't need anymore), and the Luke, well, maybe.
Still want to see Sidious and Tyranus, and maybe Asajj for kicks.
And the Mara Jade saber could be really cool, as well.

Actually it's a copyright issue. Regardless of credit to designs... they didn't take the pictures. The photographer has rights to their use.

In the same vein we can't use products that are too close to SW objects for sale because Lucas owns all right to the "image" of SW. That's why Parks himself got in a little scuffle with Lucas.

Parks made the MJ hilt too... so the point seems lost. They probably own the rights to that design, but all of those images didn't come from them. Some of them are rather scathing because the owner comes up like "WTH! That's my (insert prop here)!"

A photo without a watermark posted in a public forum of any kind is fair game bud. Trust me on this one, been there done that. And you are dead on with the copyright issue except your forgetting that the MJ saber was made by people (Parks and others) by using concept drawings and pics. It's really one of those no win deals, You know as well as I do that Lucas camp can and will do whatever they need to do. It's business, It makes BIG money and there are no fans, costumers, prop makes, etc. that can do crap about what they do or don't do.

We are just the grubby little kids playin' in his sandbox. :P

Anyway, with all that huffnpuff I say to heck with the EU stuff, I want ACCURATE Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan EPI, EPI and EPII clan sabers(can you say basterdized Maul :D ) in FX with new sounds and upgraded boards. Not gonna happen but I can dream :wink:

Yeah, you're right, James, it could very well be a fake.

There are a few concerns on my part:

Bad (It looks "too good to be true"):
-BYO FX saber seems a little too far over to the quality side for the cheapy MR people (can't someone check if there really is a trademark on "Joe Jedi" to confirm it?).
-Obi-Wan TPM FX also seems very "just what we wanted, but Lucasfilm would never give us"-ish.
-Mara Jade hilt seems VERY suspect.
-They labeled the Vader sabers as "EP IV", but didn't specify the episodes of the Obi-Wan and Luke sabers.
-Misspelling of certain words

Overall, it just seems like a little too much fan service.


Good:
-Misspelling is very common for MR. :lol:
-The "Q" seems a little too mysterious and unclear for a made-up rumor. It sounds very much like what a manufacturer would name it, and not what someone trying to make a rumor would write.

Overall, that "Q" thing almost proves it for me (or it could be that I'm a ridiculously huge optimist).


Oh, and I'm with ya on the Qui-Gon thing. I wouldn't get one myself (lack of $$$), but I sure do like it. It's really the only saber they haven't yet done in some form (besides Palpatine).

So those ones with the Q would be closer to the real thing as far as details go. They also were suppose to have removable blades and be more dual worthy. I guess we will just all have to sit and wait patiently for MR to make it official or not on the others.

The Funny thing is I have heard the MR Guys talking up and down last year doing the ROTS Lineup that this would be the year we get a detachable blade, but will it break. I am with X-Wing we already know how to build those. 8)
