Got 2 quick questions, one involving resistors and another involving an LED. I was digging through some old stuff a few days ago and came across my old stash of parts from a few years back. One of the things I came across was an old white LED and some resistors. my questions are this,

1: do LEDs and resistors have an expiration date such as they're no good after x amount of time. The resistors and LED are unused and were stored in a dry container for a few years.
2: can a 2.2 ohm 1/2 watt resistor stand in as a substitution for a 1 ohm 2 watt resistor.

just curious as this will save me a little bit of cash for a future build.

1. No expiration date. They'll be just fine.
2. No. The wattage is your problem. Extra ohms would just mean a dimmer LED, but the low wattage will likely release the "magic smoke" from your components.

Cool then that's an LED that i'll have ready to go for when I put my next saber together. had a gut feeling on the substitution but figured I would ask. not as good with this stuff as i used to be. well not yet anyways.
