Hey everybody,

I've been following this older tutorial here http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?6430-n00b!-So-you-want-to-build-a-MHS-saber-huh&p=108682&posted=1#post108682 and am simply posting up what I currently have in my cart(picture below), and am wondering what else I still need for a basic build. An up to date assembly tutorial would also be great, video preferably. Thanks!

That tutorial is a little out of date, and some things in the store have changed around a bit.

You will need a latching type switch, pommel insert, and MPS clip for holding the insert in place. Additionally, you will need something to regulate power to the LED. You could get a 1000mA buckpuck, or use a resistor. With your 6v pack and the white Rebel LED, a 3.3 ohm 5 watt resistor is appropriate.

Read through this thread http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?8537-MHS-LED-kit-tutorial-(resistor-variant) for instructions on assembling the electronics. Some of the parts (like the LED and heatsink module) are already assembled for you.

PRAISE THE LORD! Are there any Basic kits of just ALL necessary electronics short of the batteries that are ready to pop in a hilt? I don't need to do anything but make it glow white.

Speaking of hilts- I'm considering building a PVC one due to budget constraints and my connections to a local hardware store. Any guides around? Wasn't find any, but can wing it if need be. I just don't have well over $100 for this, but one part of a costumer I have yet to really start on.

Thanks!

For PVC hilts: http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?3266-Jay-gon-s-PVC-Hilts-Full-tutorial-on-last-page&p=138540#post138540 will get you started.

As for electronics, all the internals you need are as follows: Batteries/battery holder, latching switch, resistor(or buckpuck), LED star, heatsink, lens holder, lens, and some wire.

Thanks! Now I know that rebel star basic electronics kit he recommends in the tutorial in my first post is getting phased out or something? do you know what I could use that is up to date if I need to use anything different at all?

Do you also have a link to a basic shopping list, with store links if possible, of each of those electronics? Or can I bash in "resistor" or "LED star" into the store search and pretty much use any combination of anything I find, to a degree? Thanks again, and pardon the idiocy, first attempt.

Battery holders can be found in the "Batteries and Packs" section, "Holder" subsection.
Resistors can be found in "Wiring", "Resistors".
LED stars, lenses, and lens holders can all be found in "Hilt Electronics", as can the buckpucks if you're interested in those.
Switches are in the "Switches" section, for obvious reasons. ;) Select a Latching style switch unless you want to hold down the button to keep your saber on.

The basic electronics kit was just a collection of LED star, lens holder, lens, switch, and battery holder. You can pick them all up separately, there's no difference in price for getting the bundle.

I appreciate it! I'll post up my current updated cart, obviously blade and internals only considering I decided to go the PVC saber hilt route. Anyway:

1x 40" battle blade

1x build your own Seoul P4 electronics kit

Am I set? Or do I ALSO need http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Seoul-P4-LED-MHS-Heatsink-Module-P654.aspx

With that said, am I missing ANYTHING else before I can safely place this order, have EVERYTHING I need to get a basic saber built(excluding tools and heatshrink which I can find)? Thanks so much, hoping this is the last post.

Well I just posted in one of my blogs the step by step of a PVC hilt saber. All information was obtained reading a lot this forum and with lot of help from users.

As I'm in Europe and I couldn't afford shippings from USA I got materials in local stores or european online stores so some materials are little bit different, If you are in USA I reccomend you to use TCCS parts as much as possible, it would be easier and you will have much more expert's feedback if troubles.

Link is here: http://cursedmonkeys.com/?p=4884&lang=en
it's not very deep or technical, just an overview.

I think i'm not breaking any forum's rule posting this link, if I do, please tell me and I'll remove it asap.

Happy to announce that I've placed my order of my 40" Blade and the build your own electronics kit, which comes with everything I will need, in accordance with the PVC saber tutorial posted for me that I will be adhering to, http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?3266-Jay-gon-s-PVC-Hilts-Full-tutorial-on-last-page&p=138540#post138540 located here. Please do correct me if I'm wrong. The one issue at hand is the battery holder which may not fit in the 1" PVC, so I plan to hit radioshack and get a 2AAA inline holder not unlike this one http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=22874876 and that'll be that.

Sounding good thus far? thanks for all the help leading up to this; Really hope this can be a done deal by halloween.
